Ls1 intake has a hole right behind the throttle body for the egr, the ls6 does not have a egr. Ls6 intake has a flat bottom the ls1 has a bump in the middle.

What he said^^^ except if it came from a 97-00 vette. They didnt have egr's so their ls1 intake wont have that provision. Easiest way to tell is the flat bottom.

I thought the LS6 intakes had some sort of raised grid on the bottom?

I don't rember where the PN is on the intake but if you can find that, obviously that would be best. Since you have a WS6 odds are low that you have a 97-00 vette LS1 intake so if the EGR hole is missing that is probably going to be you best indicator without the PN. However there is an exception to that as well, SLP did mod LS6 intakes with provisions for the EGR system. I know first hand since I just put the SLP intake on my car this weekend, I don't run EGR so I have put a cap on the fitting.

I've noticed that the part number on the LS1 intakes I have had hands on are on the right(passenger) side of the intake and the LS6 intakes I've saw are on the left(driver) side

The part number will be on the middle of the intake, towards the edge
