2002 LQ4 Camshaft?
i know that the LQ4 is an LS based engine.
just wondering what kind of camshaft can be installed on the LQ4.
Can an LS1 camshaft be installed? etc.
What camshaft recommendations.
I want it loud and good idling.
Thanks.
with that said which cam can be used with stock rocker arms.
What kind of rockers does the 2002 LQ4 have?
its an all stock 2002 LQ4 Engine.
seems like the LS1 and LQ4 have an 1.7:1 rocker ratio.
I am thinking about buying this camshat.
99-TR-TORQ-L5
Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft
"TR TRuTorq" Level 5 - 227/239 .614/.621 115 LSA 2200-6800 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power. Good bottom end and mid-range torque. Requires computer tuning. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended.
since it states the following - the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended.
I am new to this engines stuff. i guess i have to get different Rocker Arms? Since i have a 1.7 ratio?

My tsp 228r cam on my lq4 is a great daily driver cam and has a nice lope at 800rpm idle.Mid range and topend is stout.I suggest using a good spring and hardened pushrods regardless what cam you decided for cheap insurance on the valvetrain.
Obviously the stock LQ4 springs are not suitable for use with an aggressive aftermarket cam like the 227/239 .614/.621 the OP is hoping to use.
However, what about using the stock LQ4 springs on a stock 2005 LS2 cam?
Specs are 204/211 .525 lift 116.5 lsa for the LS2 cam.
Can the LQ4 springs handle that lift?
