Default TA rear end cover leak

Prolly not the right place for this but I have a TA rear end cover and noticed there is a leak coming from one of the black pieces on the outside if anyone knows what I'm talking about. Seems to only do it after driving and reaching operating temperature. How would I stop this from this location?

FWIW...I worry when my 10-bolt stops leaking, its out of diff fluid If it really bothers you, try to tighten up the bolts. If it still leaks, then pull the cover, replace the gasket and/or make you own with silicone and put that puppy back on.

I gotcha yah...Those are the load bolts. Is one loose? You should be able to hand tighten if they are loose...Do not get medieval on these! Torque to 5LBs..Then make sure that jam nut is snug to keep them locked in place. (the load bolts are in the center of the jam nut)

Edit: after re-reading sounds like just the jam nut may be loose..check both load bolt and jam nut.

Do you know if the bearing cap stud kit was actually installed? The black nut is the jam nut, that bolt in the center is load bolt. You can check that jam nut with a wrench, it needs to be snug. I would loosen the jam nut and check the load bolt with torque wrench, then snug that jam nut back down.

EDIT: If that does not work the thread seal may be trashed, if the leak is a little leak, then I'd leave it be.

good write up on install university

It should've been. It was put on as is straight out of the box. I don't have a torque wrench at the moment to check the load bolt

may be a good idea to use some silicone on those bolts.

My summit girdle doesnt leak a bit. just back the bolts out some, clean the threads, and put some silicone on there before you thread them back in.

It's not the seal of the cover itself just one of the load bolts and jam nuts. Sounds like an easy fix from what you guys have said. I appreciate the help guys

On the load bolts, I can't tell now with it on the car, I have two extra bolts that came with the cover. Do these go in the center of the jam nut? It looks like it already has two gold colored bolts there but just trying to make sure I get this right
