Default 01 z28 surging and cutting out bad HELP

I have a 01 m6 car and it is having a problem i cant figure out. It is a cam car with as cast 243s, bolt ons blah blah. It was on a mail order tune when i got it and at low rpms (below 1800-1900rpm) it surged BAD. I recently had it tuned at a reputable shop in mckinney tx and it didnt fix the problem. I asked the tuner and he said its not the tuning its acting like a miss. In 1st, 2nd, and maybe 3rd it surges bad and in the higher gears if you put a load on it this it cuts out. The car has msd wires, new plugs, and a new fuel filter. So what cpuld be the problem? Thanks!

Possibly cracked porcelain on one or more of your plugs. But if your car was tuned couldn't the tuner see in the data log if it was actually missing.

Thats what i had thought too. But the day i took it to the tuner i swapped in some new tr55s. The wires are msd and look good but were on the car when i got it a few months ago. Maybe they are breaking down?

You can check the resistance of the spark plug wires with a multimeter. MSDs are supposed to lower resistance than OEM wires, but in any event the resistance should be 1,484 ohms or less.

As an aside, your symptoms sound more like a vaccuum leak, or a bad tune to me.

Thanks for the reply. Ive looked for vacuum leaks, ive pulled the intake off and all. I'll check the wires this afternoon i just wasnt sure how much resistance they should have til now. I was positive the mail order tune was causing the problem til i took it to the tuner and it still had the exact problem

Is the SES light flashing? Time to pull some codes perhaps. After market pulley? I had a bad one from ASP a few years ago, car cut out at WOT(flashed the SES), no issues at low speed though. Pulled the pulley and replaced with the stocker, issue resolved.

Try swapping out your MAF sensor. I had this happening on my car. When I pulled really hard into 4000 rpms the check engine light would come on for the rear o2 sensors but never the MAF. I swapped the MAF out with a new one and it fixed the hesitation problems and the o2 codes
