Default PCV Catch can question

So I just got my RX catch can for the 04 LS1 in my Chevelle. I did a ton of searching and think I understand how to plumb it. The issue I ran into was there's no outlet coming out of the front of the intake like all the other 04 LS1 GTOs I've seen with the LS6 valley cover. I verified via part number that I have an LS6 intake, but it appears I have an LS1 valley cover (it was my understanding that they GTOs came with the LS6 valley cover stock). Is this right?

There's a tube that goes from the rear driver side valve cover that splits - one to the rear passenger valve cover and one all the way up to the throttle body. So my second question is that I plug the rear passenger valve cover correct? And then plug the part of the tube that was going to the passenger valve cover as well?

That's definitely an LS1 valley cover.

This is my opinion, so take it as you will.......

Get an 04+ LS6 valley cover, part #12577927 and it comes with the gasket and bolts.
Ditch that leaky POS stock PCV system.
Plug the driver's rear port on the valve cover.
Plug the passenger's rear port on valve cover.
Run the line, like it appears you have, from the passenger's front port on VC to the TB.
Hose from nipple from LS6 valley goes to top port on catch can. (dirty side)
Hose from side port of CC goes on intake manifold nipple (clean side)

Did I really answer your question? No, not really. But the LS1 PVC is nothing but a constantly deteriorating piece of rubber / leak waiting to happen. 04+ LS6 valley was the first thing I purchased for my car. Buy it. You won't regret it.

thanks for the response. You answered the productive part of my question and it sounds like replacing the valley cover is the way to go. I appreciate it.

If you want to keep the LS1 VC, you route the rear driver and rear passenger into the one line and then it goes to the intake. If your adding the catch can the line from the two rear nipples will go to the top port on the catch can and the bottom port will connect to the intake manifold using a short line.

The clean side goes from the throttle body or somewhere in the intake post MAF into the front passenger nipple.

People will tell you LS6 valley cover. But if you don't want to do the swap and do the grinding involved a good PCV and catch set-up will do a lot to control the oil consumption issues. Not saying whigham is wrong or anything, just that there are difference options out there.

6speedZ is right. You can do it that way too. A LOT cheaper, as well.

I'm curious to know though if you'd need to cut a 2004 block. I'm highly inclined to say NO, especially if the casting # just below the rear of the drivers head (on the block) ends in 1168....

You know I think your right. I was thinking in my head that you might not have to on the later blocks, but offered up that solution just for options in case he doesn't want to cut (in the case that he would have to).
