Default 3" exhaust fitment issues

This is the situation, I am trying to replace the over the axle pipe. Apparently every other section of the exhaust was replaced with 3" besides that pipe and the tail pipes. The problem I am having is every exhaust shop I have gone to believes there is not enough room between the body of the car and the rear axle. I know its a tight fit but it should fit shouldn't? I have a Strange 12bolt which shouldn't make a difference. The pipe I have is a mandrel bent section direct from Flowmaster so I know it should fit. The question is does the rear end make it more difficult for fitting a single 3" pipe over the axle?

Thanks
Z
