Default security/starter issue? '00 t/a

Hey guys i just bought a 2000 t/a 5.7l m6, and i had this problem happen 3 times within a month.

Go to start up the car, push clutch in and nothing if i take key out, the security will stay on. happened earlier today, took the battery out (figured it might help or at-least try) and nothing, let it sit for about 10 mins with key in ignition and finally fired up. Its just like when you turn they key w/o clutch in nothing all lights come on and no dimming so battery should be good. but last time it happened i let it sit for about 10 minutes and it fired right up. I'm so confused

Going to try a few things.
*swap the relays.
*possible new key (could be a bad resistor??)
*take starter out and test it at advanced.
*clean the battery connections real good.

Only things i have done within the month is,
-tick 2 rebuild m6
-change headlight gears
-interior led's
-ls6 clutch
-(i know some of this may not cause it but cant be to safe.

I have known about ls1tech for about two years finally made a account since i bought a ls1, any inputs will help, sorry if this may be the wrong thread. thanks guys.

It could be a VATS issue. Usually the wire on the switch breaks and it just does nothing. I'm a locksmith and I see this a ton on vats equipped vehicles. Sometimes I've seen it do it intermittently like you stated and it be the wire's covering coming off and shorting out against each other. If it does it and you take the key back out, does the security light stay on for 3-5 minutes? If so, its probably vats related. If so, it will be the switch, I've never seen a bad resistor. My own car actually broke the wires and wouldn't start when it was on the dyno.

I had a 2000 Camaro that used to do that, wouldn't start and the security light would be solid. After a while (>10 min), the light would turn off and the car would start. That was about 5 yrs ago.

Yesterday, I finally fixed the issue for the friend I sold the car to. For him, the security light would flash and the car wouldn't start. Turned out to be the VATS and I fixed it for him for $6.50 (I needed 5 different resistors because of his number!). Bypass your VATS and enjoy starting your car!
