Anyone replace their ignition cylinder?

Anyone replace their ignition cylinder? The ignition cylinder has to be replaced on my SS because the VATS system is malfunctioning...I think the wires are broken. I am wondering if anyone has done this yet and has a write up on it.

I've done it but no write up. It's not too terribly difficult. Just a pain in the ***. Worst part as I remember was getting the steering wheel off. Get you a good Chilton's manual and you should be fine.

Replaced Ignition

Had mine done yesterday.
Disconnect the battery
remove the air bag (screws on the back)
remove the sterring wheel nut, use a puller and pull the wheel
remove the electronic piece under the wheel
remove the screw that holds the emerg flasher on
remove the clip that hold the metal plate down (the key guy used a type of puller that pushed down on the plate to make getting to the clip easier)
Here I saw that the wire was broke. He cut the wire and pulled it DOWN the steering column
reversed to reinstall

i was lucky enough that mine broke while it was still under warranty 
the dealer replaced mine

This seems like a tough job...I am not going to pull the entire column out, no way! Can the VATS system be turned off via LS1 EDIT? If I send my PCM to a tuner can they remove the VATS system so all I have to do is re-install the PCM and problem fixed. I don't leave my SS anywhere to get stolen anyway.
