Default question about cats

So I was wondering if it helped out running 2006 corvette cats over stock 2001 trans am cats or just go aftermarket cats? Ive done the whole catless ordeal twice and this being my DD I really dont want to die of fumes sitting in Houston traffic.

The 2006 cats may be more efficient, but I would probably just do a hi flow aftermarket cat.

So what cats did you decide to go with? I myself am trying to find the best combo to go with my Hooker LTs and have been looking at the TSP catted Y.

Well just getting ideas. I will be picking up the car next week...2001 trans am 6 speed with 65,000 miles. Im gonna do pacesetter l/t true dual out the back. This is will be my DD plus i wwant to do cats just to tone it down a bit. Still no clue. I dont want to spend an atm and a leg on high fliw cats. What about gutting the stock cats? Fairly easy right?

If you want to tone the exhaust sound down some, why would you put gutted cats in the exhaust system? You'd essentially be sticking an empty metal can in the exhaust that wouldn't do anything to reduce the true dual rasp.

The stock cats wouldn't really fit well (possibly at all) on a long tube/true dual system without a decent bit of work.
