NVUSZ28's Build Thread

I have finally come back to the good ol' US of A. :usa: Now since I've only been able to put 4000 miles on my car in the last 2 years, I figured that I'll keep more miles off of it, and install all the goodies I've collected over the last couple of years.

Today started out like any other day. My goal, Remove the AIR system. What happened was "oh eff it, lets take it all off and put everything on it now."

Pictures to come really soon!

Exhaust is off, All of the AIR system is out, and Stock PCV is off as well. Waiting on a LS6 Valley Cover tomorrow. (Also when I go back into work. Damn!) Pulled the plugs to find out they are old and in need of a dire change. If I have to grind under my Valley Plate I will do a write up, like LS1Howto.com did. Also if you see any parts that I take off and you want them, PM me, Everything has a price. (LS6 Intake and TB are already spoken for).

Took off the center console for some secret stuff too

looks good, bud!

I'm also looking into removing the PCV system on my C5 and installing a catch can. I found a lot of info in the catch can threads, but is there a better resource for learning how to remove the factory PCV system?

Good news, the wench (passenger side header) is off!

I feel like I always take 1 step forward, and 3 steps back. I took off the valley plate today, to find out my 2001 needs grinding. According to LS6 valley conversions, 2001-02 F-Body's don't need it. Well, talking it over with a good friend, he had to do it on his '01 as well. I'm thinking it has to do with the actual build date of the car. I know that mine and his were built in Nov. of 2000. Oh well, time to pull out the Dremel, rags, towels, shop vac, and patience. Also anyone ever break the scissor tool to take off your fuel line? Happened to me today...

Things are still for sale:
LID, 85mm MAF, Torque Converter, Manifolds, Cats, Y-pipe.

NVUSZ28 Oct 1, 2012 06:22 PM

MAF is spoken for.

Just an FYI, the 2001 and 2002s that don't require the cutting for LS6 valley cover fitment were the lucky fraction that got the LS6 blocks... 12561168. Don't feel too bad, you only had a 1 in 4 - 1 in 5 chance of NOT having to cut.

Everything looks to be progressing well, what is the scope of your build? Bolt ons? H/C? Good luck!

Looking at a H/C/I car, but being in the Military, it's rough to work on it with 1 day off and I work at least 60 hours a week.

NVUSZ28 Oct 6, 2012 09:41 PM

After another LOOOONNNG week of looking at Privates do this...
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...psc290e7ce.jpg

I finally get a day off to put my car under the dremel knife, only to have my battery die every 15 minutes. I charged the battery for an hour to only have the same thing happen time and time again. So I gave up after 8 hours of working on it. I'll leave the battery on the charger for the night and knock it out tomorrow after work. It was after the first time the battery quit, I had wished I spent less money on the corded dremel instead.

End of day progress. I only have 2mm to go down and a clean cut at the bottom left.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps3529b782.jpg

Also, WHERE CAN I GET THESE PLIERS!!! ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA!!! I NEED THEM!!!!

NVUSZ28 Oct 8, 2012 08:23 PM

I had today off (rarity), so I worked on it a little. The dremel ran out of juice again today 3 times. I'm so close, literally millimeters away from finishing. So I jacked up the back and front, crawled under, and installed the passenger side header. First time go.

be very careful on the driver side header install, DC the battery, and pb blast everything. Have a amurikan burr and take your time.
