Default ls2 intake on a ls1

Has anybody put a ls2 intake on a ls1? Speed inc has a kit that comes with a new ls2 intake, Nick Williams 92mm throttle body, and the ls2 fuel rails for $850! Since the ls2 intake is 90mm wouldnt it be better than a ls6 intake and about the same performance as a FAST 90 0r 92!?

Negative. LS2 was not the best, especially when compared to a FATS 90/92.

The LS2 is better than the LS1, but not the LS6, and nowhere near a FAST. $850 for that kit is a complete waste of money. Instead, buy a used LS6 and put the remaining $550 towards other items, or spend an additional $100-$200 for a used FAST 90/92 intake and 90/92 throttle body.

There is a fast 90 and TB in the classifieds right now for 950 that would serve you much better. If it was an upgrade, every bolt on ls1 would have an ls2. I dont know Ive seen a single person do it. Ls6 or fast

Yeah I didnt know, I seen the kit and thought it would be better than an ls6 or ls1 intake but like you say, I usually only see those intakes instead of an ls2 but didnt know why? At least somebody has used one with some results! Has anyone else used one?

This will probably not be the best option for the OP's application. LS3 and LS6 intakes are not interchangeable, the LS3 will only work on LS3 and L92 heads.

No the the LS3 and LS6 are for two different port designs and are not interchangeable.

OP the LS6 intake is a better flowing piece than the factory LS2 intake.

Okay thanks Aaron, that is most likely what ill use then, My setup is going to be the PRC stage one ls6 heads, with TSP 1-7/8 longtubes, and I have comp. 581/220 duration, 113lsa cam, but since the heads I got have the dual springs, I might go with a bigger cam, What would be a good one in the .590 area that would also work well with a small hit of N20? (ls1 is the engine)

You can do LS3, just need LSX-DR or Mast small bore LS3 heads.

If you already have a LS2 ,or got one real cheap. I would get it ported and run with it. Ported LS2 do very well, this is something you probably don't to DIY . The LS2 had a different production process which left a restriction in it and a different material nylon 6 as opposed to 66 which LS1 LS6 and the trucks are made of. There is a sponsor on here that does port these with good reports on gains.

waste of time and money, by the time you get one and pay for the porting, cost same or more then ls6 for no more power..

if u really want the 90mm style intake.. put the 90mm snout on the ls6 and be done with it.

ls2 intake is trash, its worth less than the garbage i put in my trash. It might make a good pooper scooper, because my dog takes some mean *****. He puts my ***** to shame.

If the LS2 intake is worse then the LS6 intake then why did GM use it on the LS2's and not keep the LS6 intake??

LS2 was also a larger engine with more bore and didn't make any more power with the same heads...

I am pretty sure that the cam profile of the LS6, and LS2 were different as well as the Valves in the 243's were the LS6's were lighter then the LS2's and maybe bigger as well. I know its not much but a I wonder what a LS2 motor would make with actual LS6 heads, cam , and intake? I know its pointless to do and a waste of money but I would be curious to see how much of a difference the LS6 intake would make
