I wonder if the plugs are not properly gapped. Advanced Auto parts told me that platinium plugs are pre-gapped. The TR55's are not a platinium plug.

That's probably the problem right there! I would pull them back out and double check em to make sure. They've told me the same thing about plugs and I double checked them anad I found that a couple of them were gapped too much. Good luck man

Thanks man!!! I am going to try that when I get off from work. I am hoping that is the problem. I am not throwing any codes except EGR and AIR codes. Did you car freak out when you floored it?

also do you have a MAFT? If not, you may want to look into one of them. If you know anyone with autotap, you can tap your car and see what's going on. That may be a problem also because LT's cause our cars to run pretty rich.

I have a custom program from Diablo and I thought that was the problem, so I took that out and I reset the PCM hoping that the car would relearn itself. Nope, still freaking out. Then my buddy told me about the NGK plugs today, so I think that is the problem. What kind of plugs are you running??

Im running NGK TR55 with no problem at all. If you haven't programmed your mixture then I think that it won't be a problem, but you may want to double check. NGK probably makes the best plugs IMO.

I would still get an extension so that the front O2 is in the right place, check the plugs, and see how it turns out. Dan, let us know how it turns out.

Alright, I pulled the plugs back out and there are gapped at .055, so that is fine. I talked to Keith McCord( Will you know who I'm talking about) and he told me that the O2's are done. I have 100,000 miles on those sensors. I am putting new O2's on the car and Keith is going to Autotap the car and tune the car for me. The O2 sensors are the same part number, so they can be moved from front to back. I will let you guys know what happens!!! Thanks

Unhappy

Well I am having a similar experience after my header install this weekend. I put on long tubes with catted Y, Taylor 10.4's and NGK iridiums. First start up I hear "tick tick tick tick". Immediatley I say oops got a leak. Shut it down sure enough got a leak, fixed it and then restart immediate POW backfire. I think no problem residual from the leak, then I let it run for a few minutes pow, pow backfires again then the entire car starts shaking like it has a MONSTER cam in it. Car has the stock cam by then way. I drive around the block and then the SES lights starts blinking like crazy. I go back home and shut it down. Thinking now ok got a loose plug wire. Go to each wire and check it tight as can be. So now I'm thinking I got a bad wire pull all wires and put stock wires back on. No change at all. I go to Auto zone to get it scanned today and I throw the dreaded PO300. The only thing I haven't done is to pull all the new plugs and replace with stockers to see if that is the problem. I'm befuddled I don't know what else to do less than changing all the plugs out AGAIN. I really don't want to do that, you all know the PITA that is. What else should be checked and should I take the car to a shop and let a professional look at it? I really need to fix this problem no later than tomorrow since this car is my Daily driver and I log about 65 miles per day on it. Please throw some advice my way

Well I checked and rechecked everything even pulled the new plugs and put the stockers back in and no change. I've got an appointment at AMS tomorrow to get it checked out and Dyno-tuned. They seem to think that will fix whatever is ailing it. I sure hope so.

Sorry about that. Since no one had replyed to my earlier posts I assumed no one was watching. It was two plugs on the passenger side after all. When I tightened them down I got a little overzealous and crimped the ends of the plug where the spark is produced and they weren't firing. When I put the stock ones back in I guess I didn't give the car enough time for the computer to re-learn the plugs were good again. Who knows. But I've got the NGK's in again now (re-gapped) and all is well. I also got the car tuned on LS1 edit to take care of any future codes that it might throw. All in All it was a case of "User error" or "installer malfunction" But I'm just happy that it is fixed now.
