Default How to use Hawks crank pulley install tool???

Hey Tech, this may be a stupid question, but can anyone give me some directions on how to use the Hawks crank pulley install tool? I get the concept of it as I tried the homemade all thread/washers/nut method before with not so good results, so I bought the Hawks tool. After I thread it in, how do I press the pulley on? I can not get my socket to the "handle" part with the trust washer because of the nut on the end of the rod. Does the nut come off or what is the nut used for? Thanks.

No you have to use a wrench or to get to the nut on the handle....

You have to use an open end box wrench

Ok, a box end wrench makes since, but how do I torque it down to the initial 240lbs to make sure that the pulley is aligned with the accessories?

I didn't use a torque wrench for that since I didn't have obe that would go up that high. I did it when I was doing my cam swap, so I was standing in the engine bay where the radiator would be.

And correction, I used the closed end of the wrench, not the open end.

Anyways, I snaked it onto the handle of the tool, ensuring it would be parrallel with the deck, and pretty much just did a dead-lift.

Again, that's just how - I - did it.

Push the pulley on by hand. Thread the tool into the crank as far as you can get it (by hand). Grab a ratchet with the correct socket and put it on the end. Use this to stabilize the tool/thread portion from twisting in the crank snout. Now, While holding the ratchet, grab an open end wrench and start turning the inner nut/bearing to press the balancer on. Once you get it on a few inches. Loosen it up and thread the rod in the crank further. Repeat. Once you have it on, remove tool, install ARP bolt and torque to spec. If using OEM, torque with old bolt first than install new TTY bolt
