Non-coated Pacesetter headers

Non-coated Pacesetter headers I have a 2002 Z28 that came with Pacesetter LTs when I bought it. They are not coated and are very brown/rough looking underneath.
I was wondering if mild steel headers have a life expectancy. Should I worry about having to replace them?
Also, any advice to help them last longer? Thanks!

are they starting to rust out? the painted pacesetters are known for having crappy paint and it burning off quickly. they should be ok for a little while, but id get new ones eventually.
I made this mistake with my v6 when I was younger. "Yeah, headers throw them on don't care about the coating." They were pacesetter's also just painted. Within a week the paint had burned off and rust was already coming in bad (the paint is only so they don't rust during shipment, not heat tempered at all). So after a month I ripped them back off and had a shop sandblast them. Coated them with the VHT Flameproof, and ran them with that coating for about 2 years until the car was totaled. The only problems that were showing was rust coming through on the weld spots (just little orange blotches). As for the primaries and collectors they looked great.
It doesn't sound like the rust has eaten through but it's a risk if you want to rip them off and sandblast them and repaint to get a little more life out of them. Question is how bad is the rust coming through on the inside.
