I'll revisit this thread once I start getting parts in and replacing stuff.
I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to document the process

I'll also list all the part #s of everything I buy, in case someone stumbles across this thread later.

i just replaced my intake to the ls6 yesterday and i did not replace gaskets b/c they looked fine to me. However you do need the ls6 steam pipe/tube, don't know a number on those, you will also need 2 plugs for the back of the intake where the ls1 steam tube connected. The ls1 steam tube has 4 connections, the ls6 only has two.The part number for the plugs is GM 12602540. I did not break anything, just be careful and dont force it. While the intake is off its a good time to remove that EGR and AIR system, idk if you have LT's or not but EGR is bs to me. Oh and i also put on a SLP air lid and K&N filter.

Something no one mentioned, address the coolant crossover tubes. If its a 99 and you're switching to an ls6 style intake that's not a fast, make sure the ls1 tube fits under there by smashing it down and breaking/sanding the appropriate ribs to make clearance. Otherwise, add an ls6 tube to the front and blockoffs to the back. Or an ls6 tube to the back.

And consider painting your intake if that matters to you. I know I've installed intakes just to pull them in 6 months to paint them.

Also, think about taking a look in each intake runner, cleaning them up and looking for anything unusual. Then, cover the openings so nothing falls in!

In hind sight, you've probably already replaced your manifold. Oh well

is there a better intake manifold gasket than others? or does any autoparts store gasket work?

Also, does anyone have the part number for the knock sensor and harness?
