Default ls6 or ls2 ?

I am in the process of a 408 build and was wondering what intake is better. I know that ls6 flows better on stock cubes but with a bigger tb on the ls2 wouldnt it flow better than the 78mm on a larger cube engine.

Ls6 is much better as ls2 flows just a little better than an ls1

Technically an LS6 will flow better than a stock LS2. Port the crap out of the LS2 and it will be just about on par if not slightly ahead of the stock LS6.

That said, both of those intakes will choke the heck out of a 408 cube motor, especially if you put on some nice heads and decent sized cam.

For now it gets a set of worked over 243s and f13 cam will be going ls3 top end in within a year. Bottom now top later. I know bassakwards but I only have 1500 into a 408 bottom end that I lucked across from a guy who built it when he was going to SAM down in Houston assembaled installed never fired got married and now time for kids. got a ready to go block Wiseco pistons and eagle crank along with a but load of other parts from him for 1400 and then traded a polaris 4 wheeler that I had no money in for the callies rods. SO bottom now top later it all started as a set of heads and changed direction quick.

Port match that ls6 intake to those 243s and I think you'll have a good topend on the cheap that will go well with that cam. Should be a great street motor. On the other hand, when you go to the ls3 topend, I'd try to pick up a bigger cam. That f13 will seem rather tame in a 408.

LS6 all day, but why would you put that on a 408?

IMHO...if you are building a 408, build it right. Go with a FAST 102 intake and better heads.

Maybe he is on a budget as he is in the middle of build. A ls6 will be fine and can always upgrade latter

Very True, I just felt if you don't have the budget to play, you shouldn't.

Its going to cost him more money to buy it later than it would to buy it now. With parts and tuning.

I already have the ls6 intake on my ls1 and all supporting mods also. Yes on a budget will take more patience than time or money for me (A,D,D) lol. The stk mtr has 175k on the clock and is just a matter of time before it goes found this great deal on this stuff so here I go with a 408 anything I do to it is better than stock. I am already thinking about selling the h/c/intake combo and just get ls3 top end and be done with it and put the lg 6x cam in it. all tuning is being swaped out for labor with a buddy so any changes are taken care of for little to nada. Thanks for the in put.

Do the LS3 top end. Everything including the intake should be around $1200

what heads are you going to use ?consider a BBK intake, they flow better then a ls6 intake and you get one used for $300.I like the ls3 top idea best.you can get new ls3 heads complete for $650 a set from SDPC.
