Cathedral heads or Rectangular heads for 408??
My car will be NA and 95% street driven. I was set on an ls3 topend , but it even though they make great numbers, they seem to be soft on the bottom end? Would the cathedral heads make a better tq curve?
My choices will be a stock casting for now, so don't throw in the Afr or trick flow answer. Lol

But with the LS3's you get at least one benefit (great top end).
With any other casting, you wont flow as well as LS3's can, but drivability goes up. You also lose the top end that you have with LS3's.
Try to get the compression up to help out some and go with a cam that makes good torque.
For the price, it is hard to not choose ls3s.
Not to mention the intake flows great, with cathedral you would have to have at least a FAST 90.
You also get the stock 42#s with the intake.
Lemons.... I like the way you think. I really don't want to drop a grand on an intake. Id like to run 11:1, but it seems that cams even custom ones are hit and miss with the rectangular setup. Only thing that worries me is the huge intake runners and I've seen people say that you need at least a 4.065 bore to take advantage of it.
And we all know that ain't happening with a lq4 block
