Is it possible for an O2 Upstream sensor to go bad without throwing a code? I just installed the BBK LT headers system, and Corvette O2's (SMP Brand) and am having problems with the car. I got a system lean code on bank 1 and a random/multiple misfire code. I have HP tuners, and scanned the car and noticed that the bank 1 O2 sensor wouldn't go past maybe .150V, even when I accelerated. The bank 2 sensor responds normally and the volts do go up.

Can this be the Bank 1 sensor that is bad? These two are brand new sensors.

 

you may have a bad sensors from the store swap them and see what happends

Has the car been tuned? I saw you mentioned Hp Tuners. Does the sensor switch any or is it stuck at .150mv?

 

It does switch, but not above .200 when the car warms up a bit is when you start to feel the car get leaner and the engine gets more shaky.

 

Coming from the German word it isn't uncommon for an O2 sensor to go bad without throwing a code. I had two sensors do this to me on my Audi. Switching the banks is the best idea. I also had a MAF sensor do this to me on the Audi. No codes, ran pretty good but when I logged it it would show somewhat funky readings. New maf and the car was back to perfect.

 

any exhaust leaks? and try ngk o2's

 

Mine from the local parts store done this same thing after a year or so and didnt throw a code but had low voltage like you described. New one from the parts store solved this.

 

I did find an exhaust leak at the back of the Y-pipe where it meets the back pipe. I'm going to try one of the original O2 sensors(A Denso) that I extended, and see if that works and makes things better.

 

Can I ask how you extended it?

 

I used solder and the wire that was supplied by BOK in their headers. I was going to use these extended O2 sensors to move the car for street sweeping, but received the new sensors the same day.

 

OK. Just checking. I had a recent experience with a car at work where someone had extended their 02's with trailer wiring.
