Default Coil Relocation

Where are you guys relocating your coils to? I picked up some nice looking valve covers and don't want to hide them under the damn coils, so was thinking about moving them. Let me know where you moved them and how much a PITA it was. Are you extending or moving the coil harnesses? Post pics if you have them. Thanks!

I've seen a few guys move then up under the cowl by cutting and extending the harness, running longer plug wires and stacking the coils with long bolts or all-thread

I put mine under the cowl. I am using truck coils and bought the brackets from CBM Motorsports (http://www.cbmmotorsports.com/index.html) off of eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/CBM-11016-GM-Truck-Gen-III-coil-relocation-bracket-Vortec-4-8-5-3-Ignition-D581-/220986608662?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3373d40c16) Then I bought a harness extension from Current Performance Wiring (http://currentperformance.com/index.html) and had them put the spriral sleeve on it. Everything looks tight and professional, not junky and crowded!

Awesome, I have some brackets from the valve covers I got so I was going to use those. Do you have a picture of where they are or installed?

BTW thanks for the wiring link!!!

I will get some pics up in a couple of weeks! I need to trim the plug wires and route them. I have these neat little wire looms that should keep the wires in check. Right now each wire is about 6 feet long!!

I've heard of some being placed behind the heads in between the firewall, but on my car, it isn't an option without mangling the firewall. I've heard of some being placed in the wheel wells up high with protective covering. I've seen some placed on what would normally being called the frame horns up front but down low.

Also be sure to mark which coil goes to which cylinder before you start, and which harness plug goes which bank.

That will just make it easier on you when you go to put your plug wires back on.

FYI on a F-body you don't need to extend the the coil harnesses if you're mounting the coils right under the cowl, but I would unwrap then re-wrap new heat wrap on the coil wires once the coils are mounted on the relocation brackets.
