HELP!!! Changed starter and engine starts when the battery is reconnected

HELP!!! Changed starter and engine starts when the battery is reconnected So my starter went out. I finished changing it. Before i started i disconnected the battery. I have everything tightened down, go to connect the battery back up and the engine turns over. The key is not in the ignition and it is is the off position. Did i put some wire on backwards??? theres only 2 wires and they are different sizes. Im confused. Any suggestions??????
Those two connections are touching. U have to makw sure they don't touch or it conpletes the current when battery is connected
