Default kooks headers?

i'm looking at putting headers on my bolt on 02 t\a. the pacesetters look like a bargain but i'm wanting 1-7\8 primarys incase i ever HCI the car. how are the kooks for quality? they are pricey but if they are very good quality i don't care about that. i've kinda had my fill with cheap headers.

Kooks are top notch. I have their 1 7/8's with their 3" ORY running with a GMMG out back. Quality can't be beat, and the fitment is second to none. Can't go wrong. If you buy something other than Kooks or ARH your going to regret it in the long run. TSP's, Hooker, Pacesetter, and some other brands, they all have their fitment issues and ground clearance problems. Most all others will eventually rust and look like crap. Now, while looking horrible isn't a performance degrader it looks horrible if you take pride in your ride and the parts you put on it. The ARH have a nicer merge in their ORY than Kooks but both Kooks and ARH get the job done and both are completely stainless. If you give "Marylandspeed" a call and get a quote from them on the phone for their price for the Kooks you might be suprised. It won't be as expensive as you may think it will be from what Kooks has all their produces advertised at. Well, I hope this was helpful and good luck with whatever you decide.

Thats a good choice then, because the pacesetters wouldnt look shinny for very long.

I have the 1 7/8" by Kooks as well. Big big headers, perfect fit. Sounds nice and mean with an off road X pipe and dual exhaust.

I bought some heat protective wrap from Jegs for my O2 sensors. Not necessary, but makes me feel better.

Kooks merge sucks but their headers are good. I have their TD's and love them. If your looking for a Y-pipe too go with ARH.

I deal with both Kooks and ARH... ARH is in our backyard and Kooks was near us too before they moved. Both companies have EXCELLENT build quality and fitment' you will not be disappointed

Yep I have the Pacesetters from previous owner installed. There are rust spots on the bottom of collector pipe under car. If anyone has any ideas or experience how to remove I'm listening. I'm thinking of hitting with a wire wheel, spraying with high temp caliper silver paint. Is a pain in the buttt, just do it right the first time and no worries down the road.

It's not so much that the 1-3/4 stepped to 1-7/8 offer the flow of the larger primaries but the smaller diameter primary first helps with velocity and pulls the exhaust out of the head. There have been instances where they have been proven to make more power than 1-7/8 but I haven't seen any done on an fbody and also they are much more$$

Their Y-Pipe merge sucks, which is part of the reason I chose ARH -- stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8...

Many of you guys go with coatings on your stainless headers? Wondering if they're worth it?
