4" over the axle pipe
I've been kicking around the idea of getting rid of my TD setup. My newborn daughter can't stand how loud it is. My goal is to move the sound from underneath the cabin to out the back. I bought two flowmaster dual 3" in and 4" out. I do not want to go with a catback hence why I bought two merge's. Anyways... My question is, will a 4" pipe fit over the axle?
I will be using the other merge opposite the way the first one. Simply flip it around and have the 4" in and the dual 3" out to the tips. No resonator in between but keep my bullets and weld them either before the merge or after the (second) merge..
If anybody has any suggestions as the placement of the mufflers, I'd be glad to hear those as well.

I have a little speculation about the relocation kit as it says it will allow up to 3 inch duals over the axle and out... I still ordered none the less trusting what you said.

I've got a 4" over the axle on my car. I used the panhard bar relocation kit and its a tight fit even with it. The over the axle pipe was all made with mandrel bends from Summit. I used a 60 at the end of the I, a 90 going over the rearend and back down, then another 90 turned to the side going into a magnaflow, another 90 coming out toward the back of the car with a 30 tacked on the end and cut at a slash. Then with dummy tips.

Any consideration about doing 4" pipe to a 4" cutout before going over the axle or are you doing dual pipes over? Sorry. Just trying to better understand what you're going after. I guess if you already have the 4" mufflers, then you're probably set on doing 4" over the axle, huh? Any idea how much of a restriction the mufflers are going to make?

I guess if all else fails I'll just tell him to run the current duals under the axle... the car will never be lowered anyways and my ground clearance already is terrible anyways.

Under the axle duals are preferable to over the axle duals in my very strong opinion. I had 3 inch mandrel bent under the axle and had more clearance than I did with my y pipe setup. And this was with big 14x9x4 mufflers. The key is taking your time and making the right bends. Another added bonus is that if you ever want to track it, add flanges right after the mufflers. Unbolt the tailpipes, bolt on some turndowns and you have dumped duals.

Mufflex has been selling 4" systems that fit our cars for years. No "clearancing" required...

Two "strong" opinions on how to run duals out the back around here. The right way and the under the axle way. Under is def cheapest (which is prob 99.9% of the reason it was ever conceived), looks the worst and limits your ability to lift the car - rearend will hit the system as it unloads.
Just throwin out another perspective.....either way, I hope your daughter enjoys it
