Default How to Make Stock Temp Gauge Accurate??

I see that everyone hates on the stock dash coolant gauge because it is a 'dummy gauge' and not accurate. I don't want to add an aftermarket gauge so how can I make my dash gauge accurate?

BTW, this seems like a question that should have been asked before so I searched and searched and could not find anything. if I missed something, don't flame me, just provide a link.

Live with it or install an aftermarket. I installed an aftermarket BC down in the dirty south it gets HOT.

Hmmm.... There's got to be a way, and easier than that writeup. I can't believe everyone just throws in an aftermarket.

Just get an A pillar pod and put a temp gauge in it along with whatever gauges you need. Mine has coolant temp and oil temp, but that one will get swapped for a wideband in the future. My coolant temp will stay because i don't trust the stock one

The problem is with the gauge cluster itself, as that other thread should have indicated to you. The OBD-II port gives the correct coolant temp, so the PCM is reporting it accurately, it's just how the gauge cluster represents that data that's the issue.

GM did this to keep the people that kept coming in for warranty claims "because the car is running hotter than I think it should."

Either follow those instructions, or get an aftermarket water temp gauge. Those are your options.

OR, you could get a Scan Gauge which plugs directly into the OBD 2 port, and constantly monitor your coolant temp directly from the ECM, or get a Kiwi wi-fi device which plugs into that same port, and then sends a wireless PID signal to your Droid/i-phone/i-pod,pad.
But this second option could get VERY pricey (as in, MORE than even having someone install an aftermarket gauge) since one has to buy the Kiwi, AND one of those 'smart' devices if you don't already own one.

Sadly, NONE of the above will be able to give you oil TEMPS, since that is NOT reported to the ECM in our non-CAN BUS cars.

Mine does both really. It gets to 210 quickly and stays there, making it too hot most of the time since i turn my fans on around 180, but it also stays at 210 when the car is at 220

the scangauge works flawlessly, i love mine. monitors tons of stuff, not as sweet looking as the aeroforce, but works well.

I like the ultragauge better. I have one in my DD for gas mileage, etc. Cheaper then the scangauge too.
