5.3 build project mentor needed Hello
Ive started working on gathering parts for my ls build. So far I have a junkyard 5.3 that has been properly stripped down and it is awaiting a visit to the machine shop. Ive purchased some arp bolts for the heads, crank and rods.
Some other things like an ls6 intake and electric water pump.
I think I need some help on choosing the right parts for this rebuild.
I dont know what cam, crank or rod bearings I should get.
should I just let the machine shop decide that?
Also, will I be able to boost the compression ratio and gain some rpm's if I use ls6 heads on my 5.3? I think I might need to go with some type of ls6 head anyway because the arp head bolts I bought are for 2004-2006 ls1 and ls6. arp 134-3610.

what yr is the motor ?what are the head casting numbers ?martin at tick has a cam to make good power with a 5.3 .are you just rebuilding the 5.3 ?you could do a 383 with ,if you want to spend $1700 on a rotating assembly.the ls6 heads should flow better .
