Default Is it supposed to be this dirty? (PIC)

I just pulled my intake manifold on my way to doing the LS6 PCV mod and I am amazed how dirty the intake side of my heads are. (You can't really tell from the picture but there is dirt or sand all arround the intake ports on the heads and sitting between the heads & valley cover. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a sign of worse thigns below the intake? As you can see there is a lot of oil build up on intake ports also. Should I clean that all of (I am assuming yes)?

Yes, its normal. The only sealing points on the intake is around the intake runners. The rest is open under there.

Mine was pretty nasty too when I pulled my intake. Don't worry about it, that stuff wont get in your engine.

Yea..

Mine was pretty nasty too.. Quite a bit of oil.. I also found a few leaves in there too?

I just pulled the manifold for the second time yesterday, and it was just one big oil slick...
