Temporary Exhaust
finishing up my 5.3 S10 build and i just have shorty headers/ w collectors. I will not have money for exhaust until about mid/early june but i need my truck back on the road. whats a good temp exhaust setup to just drive back and forth to work? I do have a welder so that really isnt an issue.

Option 1 about $60. If you have a welder, do what I did and buy some 180 degree mandrel bends and straight pipe and make your y-pipe and hook up to factory exhaust.
Option 2 about 150 with good mufflers. If you are going to run duals, just build your front pipes with mandrel bends and straight pipe and hang mufflers.
Option 3, bite the bullet and get the exhaust built.
Option 4, deal with the noise.

Just order up 2 - 180 degree 2-1/2" mandrel u-bends, these are about $25 each, you could buy or build a merge pipe. You will need a few short pieces of straight pipe in 2-1/2" and 3", I went to an exhaust shop and picked up a bunch of new cutoff pieces "scrap" for free. You may have to pay a small price, I'm good friends with the local exhaust guy. Either way, a full 7' stick of 2-1/2 should be no more than $25 and a full stick of 3" should be no more than $35.
Oh you will need a good way to cut the tubing too, I have used a sawzall in the past, but a good bandsaw works much better.
If you do it this way, you will have to make several cuts and welds, way to many to clamp and expect to hold. You could clamp on the muffler but the rest need to be welds.
Check out my s10 build in my signature, I build my y-pipe in this manner and it probably only took 2 or 3 hours.
