Default cam sensor question

So I have had troubles on start up car was always perfect started within 3 seconds. Lately had horrible start ups sometimes I have to turn it over for a few seconds shut it off try again basically do it over and over till it fires because I didn't want tto just let it keep turning over. (Also my teach stopped working) so I figured bad cam sensor. I replaced it wires looked good and same thing happened. I went in HP tuners unchecked the box for cam position sensor and now my tach works but same terrible start up. Anyone have any ideas on this??? I can't figure it out since its been perfect but randomly started doing this.
Thanks

If the crank sensor was bad it wouldn't even start I thought??? Because it runs fine it's just the starting that is not smooth
