I've had a ton of exhausts. I currently have a 4 inch Y pipe and cutout going into a Dual/Dual. Perfect musclecar sound then change to top fuel dragster at the flip of a button. Doesn't get any better.

I think the PowerFlo is the current equivalent -- anyone been able to compare the two? Looks like the photo is wrong at the link below...

your camaro with a cutout dose not sound like a TF dragster

powerflo is nothing like a dual/dual catback
.

its a loud mouth catback with a smaller added muffler before the tips

^ I wonder why they aren't selling the original then, since it was so good... Also I would love to hear it next to the PowerFlo to compare sounds...

This muffler has been universally praised on here from the get-go. Too bad somebody doesn't replicate it and offer it again. I'd like to try one, but used units are all at least 10 years old, somewhat hard to come by, and fairly pricey.

Folks with H/C and headers with offroad pipes can sound defening and drony with most other aftermarket catback, SLP dual dual keeps the noise to sane cruising levels and still sound very aggressive at WOT with no drone. I kept my dual dual because of that.

I do agree the sound is good.
I am sure the I pipe on back is stainless. The base exhaust that came on the SS (not sure about all years but I am of the 01 & 02) was the GM Performance exhaust and the pipes entering and exiting the muffler are made of a cheaper grade 409 stainless which turn brownish in color regardless of what weather it sees. My 02's did and had only seen rain 3 or 4 times since new. It will rust if it sees a lot of snow/salt. Most aftermarket stainless catbacks are 304 stainless and resist rust and discoloring very well.

My DD is completely stainless and nothing turns brown either, hmm weird. I changed my 99 SS to a SLP Loudmouth 1, way back in 2002. A couple years ago I got a used DD because my car was just too loud with the H/C/LTH/OR pipe, but now it's too quiet. I am debating adding cutouts when I get new headers/y-pipe to replace my Grotyohanns, as I don't want to cut the I-pipe of the DD; this is of course if I don't go with Kooks headers/TD set-up.

So was the original post an SLP powerflow, or a dual/dual?

Edit: Never mind, just looked at the pic a bit more carefully. I wish SLP still made this system.

Thanks -- this is the detail I was looking for -- curious also how you learned that it is 409?

Doesn't sound much different from a regular stock Z28 or WS6 muffler to me

Had mine for 11 years, paid $250 for it 10 years ago. Its been through several setups and still works like a charm. Did put a cutout on the car for the extra sound and power at the track. Dynod 10-15hp difference through the dual-dual on the old 346 setup.

when slp sold the dual dual (not the slp optioned installed dual dual) they did call it the powerflo catback...after the cat back was discontinued, they released a modified loudmouth with added resonators. in this video he has a powerflo muffler. It looks just like the slp dual dual that came on the slp optioned cars. i talked to slp years ago and asked them if the slp optioned muffler was different than the one you buy from them. they said the over the counter muffler was different...then i asked him about the ring of silence. he said aside from the ring of silence, their was a difference in the muffler. turns out their is 3 different muffler designs of the dual dual muffler and ive owned them all.

in this video i know for a fact he has dual dual muffler that was purchased and not an slp optioned muffler. notice its a little louder then a all the other dual dual videos you hear. this is also the muffler i have on my ss.. the baffling is run a little different on the inside. on the outside, their is no visible difference. the first dual dual muffler i seen was a factory slp installed from my dads 01 ss. i removed both tail pipes and tried to look through both tail pipe out lets through the muffler( looked through one side of the muffler and couldn't see day light or out the other side) this muffler had an extra baffle that was welded inside the muffler. the 2nd muffler i seen was from a 00 slp optioned ss and you could see out the other tail pipe outlet( no extra baffle) the 3rd muffler(over counter slp muffler) you could see out the other side just like the 2nd muffler but it also had a smother tube going from one side to the other. also on the inlet side(over alxe pipe) the exhaust was routed to the back of the muffler(towards the tail pipes) half way trough the muffler. the first and second muffler, the exhaust goes all the way to the other side of the muffler into a chamber and then exits to the rear section(to the tail pipes). if i had the pictures, this would be a lot easier to understand.

he also has 2 more videos you can listen to...no its not a loudmouth and no their isn't any cut outs...its the over counter bought version of the dual/dual(older power flo)

slp factory installed dual dual in the 2nd part of the video

both cars have LT AND ory..
