Guage cluster acting up...

Hey guys, I was hoping I could get a bit of help from you. I sold my car and the new owner called me up and is having issues with the guage cluster. From his description there's about 5 different lights turned on (I'll have to find out exactly which ones)... only 3 needles are working (volt, speed, oil pressure) and when he took the car to AutoZone, an employee plugged in a code reader and it read nothing, as in, the code reader wouldn't even power up. Says the car is running fine... any ideas?

Could it be something other than the cluster?

pull the cluster out, and put it back in. may be a bad seat. if you have another cluster to test out that you know is good, swap that one in and see if the problem persists.
