Default Hollowed Catalytic Converter

I am looking to do some exhaust work soon. If I hollow out my cats will it throw a trouble code? If so, what can I do about it?

you will throw a code for the rear o2 sensor , no other problem other than that . why not get a straight pipe or check out fake cat converters, The problem with hollowing one out is the turbulence it creates bc its not smooth inside.

Not worth the time and effort. Save up and do some headers and a ORY.

Would an ORY still trip the code? I do not want dummy lights or rigs.

Yes you'll get a SES light. You tune out the DTC's for the rear O2's and the air pump... Just like they were never there.

I didn't know I was doing it until I found the simulators under my b4c... Lol! It will make it louder, and for someone on a budget (which ls1techers seem to forget about), its alright!

I just swapped my factory y-pipe setup for the Walker/Dynomax ORY for stock manifolds.

Unless you are absolutely doing ALL the work yourself, you're not gonna save a ton of money over headers. In fact, after buying the pipe, getting my tune modified, AND having a muffler shop swap in the pipes, I still came out cheaper than buying all the parts alone for a header swap. I'm not even talking about those expensive headers either.

If more horsepower is of zero concern, or even very little, and you just want more sound, go with ORY. It's much cheaper, and it will make a DRAMATIC change in tone.

But yes, if you aren't willing to use an O2 sim or the spark plug anti-fouler method, but you still don't want a CEL, you WILL have to modify your tune to ignore the catalyst efficiency monitor codes.
