Default Not happy with my exhaust

My car came with a Flowmaster catback on it. After I put on the long tubes and ORY, the rasp was unbearable. Put a Powerstick in the "I" pipe and that took care of most of it, but the exhaust is still too loud and I don't like the tone of it. Just bought a Flowmaster merge for the Y pipe. Does anybody know of a muffler that will swap out for the flowmaster that will quiet it down a touch without killing horsepower? Don't want to spring for a whole new catback, but I gotta do something.

You will be hard pressed to find a muffler to replace the flowmaster catback that won't GAIN you power. Those cross flows are crap.

I had the flowmaster catback on my car with a e cutout on my previous motor. I picked up 8 rwhp and 9 rwtq thru the cutout. This was with a streetsweeper cam. The muffler was a 80 series.

If you don't like loud, if you get lucky, you can find an SLP Dual Dual on the classifieds. With headers and ORY it's barely louder than stock, and at WOT gives the car a really nice exotic tone.

I have a similar issue. Just installed LT's and ORY with a flowmaster 80 series already on the car. I like the loudness but the rasp is a little much. Without replacing the muffler, what could I add to tame the sound a little bit? Would a dynomax bullet reduce the rasp? What else is there?

I took off my Slowmaster this spring. I installed a 3" dual in/3.5" single out FM merge. I welded a 3.5" in/out Dynomax race mini-bullet (9" long) directly to that, with a 3.5" in 3.5" out XR1 Bullet (21" total) after that. Behind the XR1 is a turndown at the axle. Believe it or not, this thing got quieter. It also breathes much better and I was able to take some weight out of the car. The tone is very deep, absolutely no rasp, and the engine sounds much bigger CI than it is. I have no regrets...just a thought.

With the 3" outlets on the FM muffler I'd look at the Dynomax, Ultra-Flo Welded, #17536.

Twice I've replaced flowmasters with magnaflows, and twice I've been all grins. $419 shipped for a stainless catback that will gain hp is tough to beat!

oh, and it sounds better, hands down!

I feel like I'm the only one on here that hates magnaflows for our cars. The only one i could handle was on a s/c ss, but i still won't buy one.

It does sound right for the OP though
