Last time changing my mind about build plans. Looking for the best combo...
My goal was always to build a mean snake eater with a sweet sounding cam lope. I had hoped to get it done before I got out of college so budget was substantially lower. Now, I realize I may as well wait another 3 years on top of what I planned and go big. I've got 4 years left for a masters degree, and hope to finish everything minus drive train. That would mean a little interior work, and suspension, my budget at this point is non existent but I'm in no hurry.
I'm looking for advice on what type of chassis reinforcement ill need, as well as what direction to take on rear tires, and how I'm going to fit them. Considered the mini tub kits, but I'm shooting for 800 rwhp, and don't know how big I need to go to get them to stick.
For tranny and rear, that's already sorted.
Motor, I wanted to reuse my LS1 block, so I knew i already had all the little bells and whistles ill need. But I wasn't sure if an lq4 block was exactly the same minus the bore size or not? I have always preferred cast iron.
Texas speed 383 striker kit assuming I use the ls1 block, if lq4, the 402 kit would be about right.
Heads I'm planning the Texas speed 237cc, they flow well over 300 cfm and showed good numbers all through rpms.
Fuel system can be adjusted according to what set up I decide on.
My main motor concern, is figuring out which FI route to take. I've spent over $1000 for exhaust already. So cutting up the headers to mount a turbo seems wasteful. Never been a fan of the d1SC, but I love love love the look and sound of a twin screw, or even a roots blower. Sad part is, that field is basically void. There are products, only 1 kit in production currently I know to mount under the hood of a ls1 f body. The dragon 1000m, I've read every thread on it I believe, Peter is a good guy, (maker) but the air flow seems to be very complicated, and gains minimal. This was during (2009ish) idk if he has revised his design. But piecing a set up together is also an option. Kenne bell kits (2.8) are not longer in production but were bad ***. I figure around 12 psi on a 383 ls1 would get me close to my goal. Can't wait to get some experienced 2 cents from guys who went that route or know some one who has.
