Default 40 Series Flowmaster

HOW DO THE 40 SERIES FLOWMASTERS FLOW ON LS1s? I WOULD LIKE TO RUN A SINGLE OUTLET SET UP ON MY CAR. ANY INFORMATION REGARDING THIS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I don't know about flow numbers for the 40 series, but they are loud in the car! There is a resonance around 2,000 rpm that is very annoying. I had flowmaster on mine and replaced it with a Hooker Aero Chamber muffler. I sounds good and is not annoying inside the car. Actually I believe it out flows the Flowmaster!

actually the 80 series was made for the late model F Body in mind. Not sure if you are able to run a single outlet with this muffler though. as far as I know they are one inlet, dual outlet... someone correct me if i am wrong

Actually I had the 40 Delta flow series on my 77 Camaro. I replaced them with Edelbrock RPM mufflers. I did have the 80 series on my 98 Z-28 when I bought it, but I swaped it out for a Hooker Aero chamber.

I have the Flowmaster 80 and they are single in and dual out. However, I have been told to get something else since these do not add any more HP than stock. They came with the car when I bought it.

But who knows???

I lose 17 HP and 9 TQ when my exuast is run through my flowmaster instead of my cutout. The only flowmasters that flow worth a **** are the single chamber race mufflers. They are single in/out however and are pretty loud.

you can run a 40 series and just have a single tailpipe. my setup is like that (except with a dynomax bullet) and i have a single 3" tail that turnsdown at the bumber like on the mufflex 4" systems. it hides well and i'm sure it flows better than a crossflow 2 outlet muffler.

Because if you compare a hooker cat back VS a cut out you only lose like
2 HP. Many other mufflers out there lose 2-5HP, but the Flowmaster, however, you can lose 15-17 HP. That is how you compare the effienciency between cat backs.

Thank You.

i had the 80 series on my 99 t/a for a while. it sounded great, very clean and wasnt too loud, but i replaced it with a loudmouth and i can feel the difference. the LM is extremely loud however, even in the cabin.

80 series are horrible, a 40 series would be better. I used a 40 series on my lt1 Z and with the headers it sounds great. The muffler sits where the cat used to be, right after the y pipe, then I just have a single pipe that leaves the muffler and splits after the axle.

i ran the 40series single in dual out in my lt1, with shorties and no cats, i got compliments all the time on how the car sounded(even from mustangs), real clean, sounded mean as hell, no rasp, maan i miss the sound of my car
