Default alternator upgrade?

hey guys, last summer i added an under drive pulley. everything worked perfect until the other day my volt gauge was acting funny. driving down to near 13, at stoplight once down to 11! almost redzone. i checked the belt is tight. guessing my 70k 14 year old alt is about finnished. wheres the best place to buy a new alternator at a reasonable cost? (& brand ) thx ps i dont have a killer stereo just a slight upgrade.

Why are you running an underdrive pulley? Looking at your mods you aren't spinning your motor into gods country so I see no need for them.

Also powermaster makes a good Alt.

I'd look at all of your wiring before investing in a new alternator.
Pull the connector off of the back of the alternator, as well as the connectors at the battery. Is there corrosion?

If you do decide on an alternator, you can't beat the bang for the buck going with an AD244. I love mine. I did use the stock belt, but I didn't like how tight it was, and went with one 10mm bigger.

^^^...I went round and round with wiring and connectors, because I was not convinced it was the alternator, as it turns out it was my alternator. I did the AD244/equivalent (new not reman) from O'reillys w/lifetime warranty...The guts appear to be Delphi..it was a tight fit, but has been working like a champ for 2 months now. Curiously my gas mileage has improved from barely getting 220 city to 250ish and my windows roll up much faster...good upgrade!

searching for AD244 alternator i found a 130 amp for $180, & a 145 amp for $230. couldnt find a powermaster that fits. an ls1 tech sponsor texas speed has a mechman 150 amp for $200. whichever rout i go any thoughts on a smaller alternator pulley to help with my 600 rpm foot on brake idle output? thanks everybody! ps my windows roll up slow so i would be yabba dabba doo happy if that fixed that issue! EDIT i swear i searched and did not see the thread "fix my endless alternator failures" im chewing on the 145 amp gm ad244 tuff stuff 8237 for $135 w free ship & using only 2 bolts / remove rear bracket or going with texas speed mechman 150 amp correct fit $200 plus ship. hmmmm i hate difficult decisions! (10-2-13)

Mine is the 145 AMP, w/4 pin connector for exciter wire. I have the box in my garage and can give you a part number when I get home.
