Default FAST 92 vs FAST 102

I'm making a lot of changes with my 04 GTO this winter and the only one I'm struggling with is the intake manifold. The csr used to have a small cam with ported 243 setup, a fast 92 and an M6, but now its going to a 238/240 with a TH400 and a 5400 stall. Street driving isnt a concern but with the extra airflow of the new cam on stock cubes, is the jumo to the 102 going to get me anything extra on the top end?

Number of threads on here about the 92/92 vs 102/102 most people say it's not worth it for the few extra ponies vs the money you have to spend on switching to the 102

if you already have the manifold, keep it. If anything look into what Tony Mamo or Vengeance cost to port it for some extra power.

I wonder if these manifolds have a different effect based on the size of the motor you are using.

For instance, in a 5.3L, is the manifold swap increase greater or smaller than on a 5,7L or a 6.2L?

If you need every single HP you can get with no concern to budget go for it, other wise maybe just get it ported by Mamo

Fast 102

The 92 is nice but the 102 is better

The same reasoning behind going 1 7/8 headers over 1 3/4

Some guys go chromoly vs mild steel suspension/cages for the weight saving at double the cost..

The name of the game is more hp, that being said if you can't afford it you can't afford it..

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'll look into getting the intake ported vs the cost of a 102. As for the chromoly vs mild steel on my roll bar, Im going with chromoly because the GTO is already a ridiculously heavy car

Its really hard to say without proven track numbers if it would actually make the car faster. Dyno numbers dont count in my book unless its back to back.

That said i switched from a 92/92 ported setup to a nw102/self ported fast 102. What i like about the 102 is that you can accurately port match the runners to the head inlets without guessing with a measuring tool because it comes apart internally. I dont have any track times or dyno numbers to compare.

The swap cost me a total of $385 from ported fast92/ported stock tb to a nw102 and self ported 102. Not bad if you do the work yourself and buy good used parts.

In my opinion, sending these plastic manifolds out for a port job is not worth the time, money and effort. You can do it yourself with some experience, research and the right tools.

All port jobs are not created equally, there is amateur port jobs and then professional port jobs.

True, a bad port job could hurt performance.

No. Why would it? Now if your tune is off then yes you will have idle issues.
