earl's header gasket? any one know where i can find some earl's header gaskets? (the ones with soft aluminum inserts) do they even make them for ls1's? any suggestions when it comes to header gaskets? i just replaced my stock ones and the leak came back again, for the record its a blown motor. |
Being a blower motor shouldn't have anything to do with an exhaust gasket... are these stock GM replacements your "blowing" out? |
yup. i'm thinking since the motor pushes so much cfm, it might be more prone to leaks ( it used to blow out the collector gaskets). |
any one? |
Jegs sells a set of header gaskets made by "Percy's" that are called "Dead Soft" Header Gaskets. Made of something they call dead soft aluminum. Jegs' part # for the ones specific to the LS1 is 760-66032 and they cost $34.99 per pair. Might just be worth it if they prevent leaks. HTH. :) |
thank you very much! :) |
I've got the Percy's dead soft gaskets and they work great IMO.Never had a leak. |
are they thicker than the stock ones? |
umm.. once again, cfm shouldn't have anything to do with it. If it was a turbo setup.. maybe... My guess is either a warped flange or they are coming loose. |
i'm leaning towards the wraped flange theory, cause the bolts are tight. but why would it leak only at high rpm? |
