earl's header gasket?

any one know where i can find some earl's header gaskets? (the ones with soft aluminum inserts)
do they even make them for ls1's?
any suggestions when it comes to header gaskets? i just replaced my stock ones and the leak came back again, for the record its a blown motor.

Being a blower motor shouldn't have anything to do with an exhaust gasket...

are these stock GM replacements your "blowing" out?

yup.
i'm thinking since the motor pushes so much cfm, it might be more prone to leaks ( it used to blow out the collector gaskets).

any one?

Jegs sells a set of header gaskets made by "Percy's" that are called "Dead Soft" Header Gaskets. Made of something they call dead soft aluminum.

Jegs' part # for the ones specific to the LS1 is 760-66032 and they cost $34.99 per pair. Might just be worth it if they prevent leaks. HTH. :)

thank you very much! :)

I've got the Percy's dead soft gaskets and they work great IMO.Never had a leak.

1dirtyZ May 12, 2004 11:47 PM

are they thicker than the stock ones?

WILWAXU May 13, 2004 11:40 AM

umm.. once again, cfm shouldn't have anything to do with it. If it was a turbo setup.. maybe...

My guess is either a warped flange or they are coming loose.

i'm leaning towards the wraped flange theory, cause the bolts are tight.
but why would it leak only at high rpm?
