Is the battery tray removable from the coolant overflow?

Is the battery tray removable from the coolant overflow?

Just as the topic says. While disconnecting my battery today to do some electrical work, I noticed the battery was sorta loose. Turns out the front of the tray (towards the nose of the car) had broken off. So it's just held on by the rear portion (with the 13mm bolt). I took the battery out and took a quick look, looks like the top of the coolant recovery reservoir IS the battery tray. Is that so? Gonna have to replace the whole damn thing?

No it is not removable. You will have to buy the whole thing. I belive it is a common problem. The part isn't all that expensive though.

Had that same problem with the 99 SS I once owned, it was covered under the warranty.

Same thing happened to me.. are you running the delco batter or an optima?

luckily the part is pretty cheap.. i bought a spare

I went a different route because I figured the damn thing would just break again...I bought a "battery hold down bracket" from Year One... only costs about $15.
