Default 6.0L LS6 Upgrade

2003 6.0L LQ4 in a street rod.

I put a LS6 intake and want to use all of the original brakets. I have already cut and modified the alternator and power steering bracket to fit.

Has anyone used a 2007 or newer water pump to solve the issue of the top hose hitting the throttle body?

No one knows if the later model water pump will work without too much modification?

Just use a fbody water pump. It will fit lq4 and come out the front.

If it's a DBW TB, no the newer angled outlet pump wont work. Only the smaller 07+ DBW TBs clear. If it's a cable TB, you can clearance the pump neck.

Yes it is the 03 TB.

The f-body waterpump will require spacers from what I have read?

Can you switch pulleys on the water pump from the truck to the f-body pump.

by using the spacer just seems like more spots to leak.

You can put a truck pulley on an f body pump that has a bolt on rear plate (not the press on). I've done several, you'll need a press. If you go that way, email me for details.

Here is a truck engine with LS6 intake and 07 truck water pump. If your throttle body is different, use a 2010 camaro pump. It has the same spacing as a truck pump and a front exit.

I went with the spacers and a Camaro water pump.

Didn't you have to relocate the idler pulley on the alternator/power steering bracket?

I see there is one down low below power steering how did you mount it there?

I did the same thing to get a little more wrap on the pulleys. Not sure if it's absolutely necessary. Just use a spacer and a longer bolt in one of the PS/alt mount bracket bolt holes. Btw, you'll need the f body tensioner to get everything spaced correctly.
