I'm wrapping my Phadt's, no doubt. Today temps got to 230 just sitting in traffic. That's insane high for me.

Sounds like a cooling problem that needs addressed first.

Exactly what I thought as well, but every C5 owner I've ever known says the same thing about them. They just naturally run hot.

Still putting a 160 stat and seeing what I can trim off the radiator "shroud"

Lightbulb

Are they ceramic coated? If not I would be going down that route before wrapping them...

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the titanium wrap for headers. Underhood temps, pipe resonance, and proximity to critical components (wires, brake lines, clutch lines, starter, etc) made it an easy choice for me.

$90 to wrap a pair of headers.

Non flammable, non-wicking, any moisture evaporates very quickly.

That's the direction I'd rather go... But my longtubes are super long... Prob be a bit more expensive for me.

I've thought about thermal coating, but does it actually DECREASE temps, or just make it cool to the touch sooner once the car is off? I mean, how drastic are we talking here?

dr whigham, Try driving it with the AC on it should run cooler.
I'd have the cooling fans set to lower turn on temperatures, they're set fairly high from the factory.

C5 Cooling Fans Operation

The low speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 108°C (226°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 104°C (219°F). The high speed cooling fan is commanded on when the coolant temperature reaches 113°C (235°F). It is turned off if the coolant temperature lowers to 108°C (226°F). When the A/C is on and the coolant temperature reaches 85°C (185°F), the low speed cooling fan will be turned on at vehicle speeds less than 56 kPh (35 mph).

That's the funny part brother (sorry if this thread is getting derailed) is that with the AC "on" it gets hotter.

Fans are already tuned to come on lower. Gonna throw a 160 stat in her in the next few days as well.

They come in 50ft lengths. 50ft should cover one side. I had some left over from each side and I did a very thorough wrapping job wrapping each primary as individually as I could.
