Default hole in tb blade.

Okay, I have a mostly stock 125k 98 ls1 camaro. I bought it used around 3k miles ago. I put a k&n in it and I put an SLP lid on it. Well last weekend I changed the oil and cleaned the MAF. When I had all the tubing off the intake i noticed the throttle body blade has a small hole in it. Is this normal, or has someone done this for some reason? If so what is the reason?
