Default Possible to Mod LS1 VC to LS6?

Ok I have tried to search for someone that has done this and came up empty handed. I have been thinking about it and tried to come up with any reasons why it wouldn't work. Why hasn't someone modded the stock LS1 valley cover to vent like the LS6 one and made their own PCV provisions? The LS6 12577927 valley cover is roughly $90-$100+ and the only difference I see is it vents the crankcase through a nipple and has a built in PCV valve, correct? So why doesn't someone just drill and tap the stock LS1 valley cover and put in a 90' nipple off of that with a inline PCV valve going to the intake manifold like the stock LS6 is designed to do? Sounds to me like it would $5 for the nipple and $5 for the PCV which is a $10 fix instead of a $100. What am I missing?? Thoughts? Comments? Ideas?

Obviously in a location that would not hit the intake and using a much better and cosmetically looking elbow but you guys get the idea.

Other than the built in PVC valve and the little plastic oil blocker that's all I see when I look at the ls6 one except with a $100 price tag.

You can get the LS6 cover with gasket for like 80 busks. briantooleyracing.com

I'd rather have something we all know works an not have to mess with any check valves or PCV valves or anything.

I was out the door from GM Parts Direct for less than $100 with the cover, hose, and plug. I'm not saying that one couldn't try to fabricate something to try and save some money, but there's a solution which is of nominal cost and makes for a very clean install.

I don't see why it wouldn't work with an external valve. Especially if you're going to use a catch can that contains a valve. It would be quick and easy. Drill from the bottom, though, so you know where the gasket line is.

My only thought would be that you need some kind of baffle beneath the fitting, to keep it from sucking too much oil. Kind of like in the valve cover.

Thats what i'm thinking also. I've just been trying to decide the best way to implement a baffle. I think I am going to try it out as soon as I get my heads and intake back on the block. I need to check for the best location to clear the bottom of the intake to drill and tap. Worst case if it doesn't work or I don't like It I will buy the LS6 VC. The engine is in a application where taking off the intake is a breeze. I had also been thinking about not running the PCV back into the intake to keep the extra oil/ crap out of it and running it into a catch can like I had rigged up before. Just trying to reduce engine clutter at the same time thats all.
