Default Need some recommendations lq9 heads and cam

So I have a 2002 z28. Car has a lq9 with 241 heads currently. Pacesetter long tubes, off road y, ls6 intake, maf ends, lid, all the little stuff, and tune. It ran 13.3 at 104 last time out on drag radials dead hooking with a 2.0 60'. I have a new circle d 245 3c converter for it. I'm a little concerned about ptv clearance with the flat top lq9 however. Any input, or proven mid to low 11 second or better combos out there. I'm pretty sure the converter alone will get me in the mid 12's.

I'm sure a cam from Brian Tooley would put you at your goal!! His 235/242 cams does well in ls1 motors with 241 heads I bet it will be same ccase with your motor. Otherwise use a ls3 top end and a cam and run that easily.

Bacon I'd like to do the ls3 topend however it requires intake rails etc. also with the flat top at zero deck I fear I might run into ptv clearance issues. I'm hoping someone will chime in who has a lq9 with a ls3 topend. Thanks for the response.

Cousin of mine has a LQ9 with a LS3 top end. CNC'd SDPC LS3 heads, 6.2 NNBS intake with injectors and factory fuel rails, and a Tick cam. He didnt run into any issues at all.

Cam was specd for a single cab silverado soo it isnt a big cam.

I'm thinking of a similar build. What does the car run on motor/nitrous? Also what's the race weight if you know it?

With the square port cylinder heads, a large cam normally isn't needed unless high RPM operation is the intended usage.

They make great power under the curve with smaller camshafts.

Yessir that is the consensus. What do you suggest Martin? Heads/cam wise? Cathedral or square?

I know this is a late response, but it all depends on how you will utilize the vehicle this combination is being put in.

If it's a street car that will be driven a lot our Stage 1 LS3 Street Heat camshaft is hard to beat.

I did decide on cathedral port heads. Your sns 3 cam was also recommended to me.
