What on earth caused my PTM 102 TB to do this.

Looks like metal fatigue at the thin areas on the cross-shaft. Probably faulty chinese metal.

I wonder how often this happens then, I know I will never buy another with only 2 screws holding the blade.
I see the NW 102 has 3 screws

2 screws seems to be very common, including the stock units. Think of the 100 of thousands that have not failed with only two screws. Looks like it was maybe a bad batch of metal or just a fluke.

I bought this off TSP, who's the manufacturer of the PTM?
So thankful the screws stayed with the blade.
The blade lodged in my alloy intake tube making a mess of the tube.

My car for Insurance reasons 'highly modified' it is under a policy of only being allowed to travel 5,000km per yr,
[3,106mls] so it is my weekend cruiser, come fun road race, car club display etc.
The TB has only done about 10,000/12,000km [6,200/7,500miles.

Well i just showed my tuner & explained what happened.

Seems I've got it about face as to why the butterfly broke off.

On firing up the car & it back fired, that is what caused the blade to be broken off.

It means there is an underlying issue that caused the backfire.
