Default Cut out sound on ls1 camaro?

I am thinking about installing a cut out in the I pipe of my 2002 Z28. I was wondering what does the exhaust tone sound like with it on? Currently I am stock, no headers or anything, stock muffler. I do not want it to sound like some hillbilly farm truck running straight pipes.

If you mount it on the I pipe just before it bends over the rear then it will have a nice rasp to it. When I bought my 99' SS it had longtubes with dual cutouts, one on each of the collectors. It sounded like a dump truck.

Cut-outs are only good for 2 things; to help maximize exhaust flow and make the exhaust loud.
If you looking for a good or nice exhaust tone look elsewhere, unless you want the hillbilly farm truck sound!

If you don't have a cam, I wouldn't bother. As others mentioned, it will sound like a dump truck. Even mine with full exhaust, a cam and other mods is borderline dump truckish...

After all these years I am shocked that people expect it to not sound like a farm truck. The V8 engine does not care what platform is rides in. Given a similar pipe arrangment and muffler (or lack ther of) they will sound pretty similar.

Back in the day an SBC in a Chevy farm truck was not going to sound worlds different than in a car if you threw straight pipes on them. Holding compression and cam profile similar.

I have put a cutout on a stock V8 5.3 before with no cats and its damn loud. Gets after a while if you leave it open too much time.
