Default Interior Vibrations

Just wondering how common this all is. I get a lot of vibration coming up from the center of my car, up through the console, under heavy acceleration. I have a 1LE tranny mount, maybe that's part of the problem. Just don't know if this is normal, or if something is loose perhaps??

interior vibration, rattles, squeaks in an Fbody

i have a poly tranny mount and the vibration and noise aint that bad.

My 98 also has a few rattles, especially under acceleration at low r's when there is lots of stress on the motor. But the hooker super comp headers & texas speed and performance tunrdowns sure do make all kinds of good noises. The biggest things that i noticed rattle wise was the spring under the passenger seat, my spoiler, flip out cup holder, and just anything that I keep in my center console. I am going to pull the spring off the bottom of the seat and try undercoating it to reduce it vibrating, and the spoiler some 2 sided tape should work pretty good right where it bolts to the car.

I have some vibration through the transmission hump and some shake through the shifter...of course, that could be the large cam at play!

On a serious note, there has always been some slight vibration...it seems common with F-bodies...I see in your sig that you have a Hurst shifter...if it's the aftermarket version, it is probably transmitting the vibration from the drivetrain as the stick is solid mounted as opposed to the stock Hurst which has a rubber isolator where the handle meets the shifter mechanism...I'm sure the 1LE mount isn't helping in the vibration department...

Wow, I can't believe that this thread has been resurrected after about a year. Anyways, its nice to see that I am not the only one dealing with this stuff. When I turn the radio down its amazing the things that crop up. My passenger seat rattles, center console, and the SLP loudmouth a bit too....then again mine is a '98 where apparently SLP didn't include a passenger side hanger with their catback.

I will say this though. I drove my buddies 2003 Mustang GT convertable last weekend for about 5 minutes. While the car is not nearly as exciting to drive from a performace standpoint, it does feel more solid on the road than my Z28, and does not rattle nearly as much. Then again it does have about 80,000 less miles on it.

Went through this with my buddies 99 T/A, everyone recomended the LT1 tranny mount, and it worked great. Maybe we already coverd this.............I'm not up on the nomenclature of A4's. sorry. Hope it helps anyway!
