Likely 2002-ish LM7(5.3) or LR4(4.8). I believe the 706 heads are referred to as "Castech" (company that mfg them) and some or all are prone to cracking. Search "castech 706" and judge for yourself. Here is a link to a sheet of casting numbers from Summit. It indicates 2002 but there is plenty more info out there to verify with.

Good luck.

Shouldn't there be a VIN number on the motor?
8th digit in Vin.
"V" denotes 4.8.
"T" or "Z" denotes 5.3.

They stamp the VIN on the block? I don't know exactly why but somehow I was convinced that wasn't the case. I guess maybe I assumed not since everyone is always chasing casting numbers.

Nice. Learned something new. And I wont even be a little b!tch and say that the actual VIN isn't on the motor.

Thanks for the info!

I'm thinking it's a 5.3L, possibly a LM7.
