Default 5.3 steam lines problems

So I have a 00" silverado with a 5.3 and 222/224 cam.. I have a problem with the steam lines or coolant crossover.. Problem I have is the one that bolts to the head on the drivers side front, looks like it's leaking around the coolant pipe where it does into the fitting . But it doesn't look like coolant, it's a organe paste looking stuff.. The coolant in my truck is green.. So I'm kinda confused. Anybody had this problem?

Sounds like typical coolant system sludge. Chances are at some point the motor had dexcool in it and that's where the sludge is coming from. They have little o rings under the fittings, you should probably replace those and do a full system flush while you're at it.

I have flushed everything on the motor but the heater core awhile back. It doesn't look like its leaking around the bottom of the fitting where the o ring is. It look like it's coming from the top of the fitting where the pipe goes in.
