to run one or 2, 1 chamber flowmaster?

Just picked up a 1 chamber flow from my.buddy for $10 lol i have a custom 2.5 y pipe to 3 inch to a slp2 dump before the axle sounds amazimg but always loved the tone that a 1 chamber gives.. my question is i see alot of ppl run dual 1 chambers on there ls1's.. y 2? I have heard these lil mufflers flow real well an can handel like 600 hp or somthing like that.. is it just for sound? 2 sound better then one? Idk but was just going to put it in place of my slp with a dump.. my car has 228 cam, has full bolt ons an 1 7/8's headers.. made 396 on a dyno

IMO, no reason to run 2 FM10's except with a dual exhaust system.
I would also expect some drone.

Theoretically a chambered style muffler isn't going to flow as well as a straight through style. Probably only a very minor difference though.

Ya not to worryed about flow to much.. i have cut outs close to my headers that i open when im at the track.. but im thinking the same on the drone as well to..

people run 2 because those mufflers are usually installed on dual exhaust systems...they won't sound nearly as good on an I pipe

Ya i figured u might get more of a choppy idea sound of 2 rather out of one.. bit my cam has a 112 lsa so its choppy.. 112 lsa with no cats + one chamber flow should sound good lol

Im running 2 1 chamber flows dumped...just got my head n cam car back. The sound is amazing. Very happy with it. Probably just as loud as dynomax bullets but has a very unique sound.

My tuner never heard 1 chambers dumped. He was very impressed with it.

I has a 02 chevy 4x4.with a 5.3 that i took the cats off an i tried the normal 40's, to super 44's (that sounded good) to the super 10 an i would go mudding with the truck an ppl would ask all the time what muffler i was running cuz it sounded so bad ass once u got it spinning around 4500 to 5k.

Update.. just welded up an put it on an man its quit...sounds good but a lil to quit for my liking lol

HCI2000SS 09-14-2014 01:02 PM

Surprised it's quieter than the LM2

Yea here is my old set up an my new.. slp had a high flow cat before it an i cut all that off an ran pipe to the flow, an even with the cat off i think the flow is quiter lol

Mine with duals was very loud. Almost as loud as an lm1 through a 3.5 y pipe. Definitely the best sounding lsx exhaust I've heard.

Sounds very good. I did that with mine and turned them straight down, it would drone so bad at 2500-3k it was constantly setting off car alarms in parking lots. Wondered how much turning them out would help.

Sounds and looks dam good man.. im thinking about getting another flow an run a dual set up..

It droned a little inside but not too bad
Fitment is an issue with two chambered mufflers under the car. you'll want to have a good shop do it thats able to tuck them high enough but still clear the torque arm and fuel lines

I had flow masters many times before. It sounded fucking badass idle'ing but I don't care for them anymore at cruising and what not. Mainly because because I've tried a couple other setups. I like the straight through mufflers more than anything. Borla xr1 was pretty sweet at part throttle and wot. Just my 2cents,. Flowmaster had sort of a bubbly sound at art throttle.
