Default LS1 GTO TB problems

So my cable is having two issues following a cam/heads swap. First, is that it's rubbing at the firewall, when I get under the steering wheel and watch the cable movement I can see the cable picking up some dust from rubbing against something. No idea what it's rubbing against. It makes my pedal harder to depress, it doesn't stick but the movement isn't as smooth as before.

Second, now my cable won't reach the lower mount hole on my TB. Now it only reaches in between the two holes. So I tried the higher mount and the TB only opens 48%(HPTuners), if I use the lower mount I can open the TB 100% but then it stays open 5-10%. Also my goat revs to 3-4k when using the lower mount, I'm assuming I have to back out some crank timing to fix the high revving ignition. I added crank timing because my goat was having trouble turning off after the install.

I had a heck of a time with the steering rack during my cam/head swap so I'm wondering if I bent something accidentally, if there's something that could've been bent? I banged the driver's side headers around pretty good trying to clearance the steering rack during removal and install.

My Fast 92/NW 92 were already installed before the cam/head swap with zero issues previously.

Thanks in advance. All mods in my sig.

I'd pull the whole cable and inspect it. Sounds like it is either kinked, melted, or otherwise compromised. You don't want that thing to stick OPEN on you. The cable sheaths are generally pretty tough so just banging around shouldn't have caused a significant issue, but the heat of the exhaust would melt it in less than a minute and if it got knocked out of a grommet somewhere it could get eaten up on the firewall or similar.

Also, 10 year old car. Things wear out. Might have been worn/fragile already and bumping around finished it off.

Got under the car and the cable isn't near the headers but it did move out of place. I moved it back to where I believe it started at, there's a line clip that holds all the pedals, so realigning that with adjusting the actual cable at the pedal has cleared the rubbing issue and gotten the reading down to 4%. My car won't idle unless it's reading 0% though. Once I put the line on the higher TB mount, she fires right up, on the lower mount she searches for idle for a sec then dies. I can hear the TB snap shut with the cable on the higher mount, but on that lower mount it slowly comes to a stop before it reaches completely closed. So I need to find 4-5% of slack. There's a rubber bumper on the pedal stop, I'm thinking about replacing it with a smaller bumper and see if that helps. I'm also going to play with the cable at the pedal and see if I can't get more slack.

So how do I pull the cable if that's what needs to be done?

I am sorry but I don't have the specifics on that. Never worked on a GTO before. I assume it would be a simple matter of disconnecting anything holding it in and snaking it out. You *could* try using a pair of pliers to pull on the TB end of the cable gently to see if you can get some slack out of it. But I take no responsibility if you pull too hard and break the cable. It's a pretty tough little guy though. Do you think you might have inadvertently bent your pedal somehow?

Figured it out. The connection on the engine side for the cable from the pedal had come loose and was just dangling. So the cable was exposed at the firewall. I just had to put the connection back in place and everything is good.
