Default Plug Wire Question

ok, this is pretty stupid but I thought I'd ask anyways. I have some GMPP plug wires and 7 out of the 8 installed perfectly with good clearance around my headers. The passenger plug (closest to the front of the car) is the b*tch. For some reason the end of the boot touches the header - so much so that I can't even fit the stock boot protector on.

I want you opinion, should I just razor knife a little length off the end of the boot ? Im thinking I need something like 1/4" or maybe less . Bad idea ?

There is probably something wrong with the plug wire or the header heat sheild. I would not cut the plug boot, if you cut to far, thats the end of that wire. I have Taylor '409' wires, no problems with stock headers or MACs

Hmm, I checked the wire against all the others and their the same length - so nothing wrong their. Also I decided early on that I cant use the heat shield (It just wont fit, also nothing wrong with that either).

I dunno....

I'm talking about the heat sheild on the header, is that what the boot is touching? If so, it may be bent, and nothing a little hammer action cant fix

Im running Bassani Mid-lengths, the plug boot is touching the header itself (barely). I noticed that it did this on the last plug wire I ran (Accel 9000's), looked like a small cigarette burn - bad enough to burn through the boot though.

Hey,I had this problem on the back firewall plug. The wire would rest against the FLP headers and would burn very quickly from the heat especially at the track. Tried a few things eventually the solution was MSD wires and koolsox. The MSD wires have a thinner boot and I wrapped them double in the koolsox. No problems since but i check that wire every once in awhile.

I run Taylor 'fire sleeves' or whatever they're called on any wires that are close to the header. The Taylor 409 wires are the biggest wires I would say, and one of mine was sliiiightly melted one day so I wrapped up the 3 worst offenders and never had a problem again.
